Matt Singer

PARTNER

Montana native and noted policy wonk, organizer, and entrepreneur, Matt Singer has been on the frontlines of advocacy and infrastructure management in the social impact and policy space for most of his vigorous career. Upon learning that six million Americans missed the 2008 election because they hadn’t registered to vote, Matt founded National Voter Registration Day, a non-partisan, widely celebrated civic holiday that exists to ensure every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate in the voting process. Activations on National Voter Registration Day have since registered over four million voters - with record registration numbers recorded during the 2020 election cycle. National Voter Registration Day has drastically altered and improved access to the voter registration process and has been celebrated by over five thousand organizations and companies nationwide since its launch, including Google, Kaiser Permanente, NAACP, Target, and the YMCA.

Before joining Impactual, Matt founded and led Forward Montana and Alliance for Youth Action, organizations that build the political power of young people while advancing policies for voting rights, immigration justice, LGBTQ equality, health care, and housing access, and to combat climate change. At the Alliance for Youth Action, Matt supported a growing network of local organizations rooted around the country, advising them on board and organizational development, strategy, fundraising, and program.

Throughout his career, Matt has built a reputation as an innovative strategist who can bring new partners into projects, an organizational leader who can manage complex stakeholder relationships to achieve impact, and an experienced campaigner who can achieve policy wins in communities across the country.

Matt has been featured in several publications as well as appeared as a guest on major network news, including most recently, MSNBC where he spoke as an expert on voter participation efforts and organizations. His passion for expanding the electorate is almost matched by his interest in food and beverage, sometimes fancy, sometimes lowbrow.
