Divinity Matovu

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Divinity began her career as a community organizer working on the 2008 Presidential campaign and local city council and school board campaigns in California. She spent 4 years as a social impact entrepreneur focused on youth development serving under-resourced teens in Uganda. She gained valuable corporate experience as an intern at SC Johnson and Goldman Sachs, and as a Program Manager at Lyft where she worked with cross-functional stakeholders to make technical improvements to the app, run marketing campaigns, increase driver earnings, and improve safety protocols for drivers. Prior to joining Impactual, she spent more than 10 years managing her own boutique consulting firm helping startups and nonprofits achieve their business goals, maximize revenue and execute strategic projects. In 2015, she created the MBA Mama blog to increase the visibility of career moms and help young women navigate family and career planning.

Divinity holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and African American Studies from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from The Wharton School at UPenn. As the single mom of a 12 year old, she has firsthand experience on the challenges and tradeoffs working parents deal with every single day. Her passion for addressing this problem inspired her to launch a startup app that enabled families to connect and share babysitting resources within trusted personal and professional networks. Despite gaining traction and raising seed capital, the startup sunset operations after ~ 1 year but Divinity’s commitment to the care agenda remains steadfast.
